On 24 November, Ambassador Cai Weiming, Hon. Manasseh Maelanga,Minister of Infrastructure Development and Hon. Elijah Asilaua, Premier of Malaita Province jointly signed the Implementation Agreement of the China-aid Auki Road Project in Malaita Province. Counselor Gong Rui, Mr. Deng Hong from the Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce , and representatives of design team and the constructor attended the signing ceremony.
In his speech, Ambassador Cai Weiming said that the signing of the implementation agreement laid an important foundation for the project. China will work closely with MID and the government of Malaita Province to actively promote the implementation of the project, and is willing to jointly work with SI to strengthen cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative and build a community with a shared future.
Minister of Infrastructure Development,Hon. Manasseh Maelanga and Premier of Malaita Province, Hon. Elijah Asilaua thanked China for the strong support for infrastructure development in Solomon Islands, saying that the Auki Road project will provide convenience for people and promote economic development in Malaita Province. The ministry and provincial government will fully cooperate and support the construction of the project.
